How Xtreme Aviation’s innovative vision is redefining the future of aircraft maintenance

Xtreme Aviation (Xtreme) is a US-based maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) company with headquarters in Opa-Locka, Florida. Established in 2013 by current Chairman Jose Rodriguez, Xtreme’s vision was to provide high-quality, high-speed support to customers all over the world. Driven by passion, dedication, and innovation, the business has since grown to provide line maintenance services to several key partners at major airport hubs on the East Coast. Today, Xtreme is part of The Xtreme Group (TXG), which also includes AeroThrust, Aventus Sales and Leasing, and 7Air Cargo.

“We strive to provide our customers and partners with everything they need to support their fleet from start to finish, whether that’s finding an aircraft or a group of aircraft maintenance technicians posing with a large turbofan engine component through Aventus; engine repair and overhaul through our sister company, AeroThrust; or flying their cargo and materials with 7Air Cargo,” opens Luis Gonzalez, President. “Xtreme Aviation is just one part of the execution, and we support customers with heavy maintenance, line maintenance, AOG field service support, engine testing, major modifications, and drop-in work. We also help to create strong relationships with the large network of vendors that can support customers with component maintenance and overhauls that may not be part of our existing capabilities.

“As a growing MRO in the US, we support customers from all over the world and maintain civil aviation approvals from many regions to remain flexible and keep a competitive edge in the ever-changing world markets. We have customers from Europe, Asia, South America, Central America, Canada, Caribbean Islands, and of course, several major airline operators in the US. Our key focus in recent years has been to strengthen our existing customer relationships and establish new partnerships with airlines that maintain our common goals of quality, safety, and performance. This has led us to partner with several major airline operators, and we’ve strived to prove ourselves as an integral and trustworthy extension of their maintenance programs.”

Expanding footprint

Xtreme currently operates a network of five maintenance stations in Florida, New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts, with an additional facility at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL Airport) in the making. “We’ve partnered with SHELTAIR to secure space at the airport, and we’re actively working through the logistics behind new hangar construction,” Luis shares. “The project is on track for completion between late 2026 early 2027 and has been well received by both FLL Airport and Broward County, especially as it will create 400 additional jobs.

“With our core values and sustainable growth trajectory in mind, this new facility will strengthen our footprint in Florida and ensure that we continue to foster a key presence as a leading MRO service provider. Situated in the central location of a major international airport, it will allow easy access for customers to receive major maintenance without added costs of ferry flights or relocations, while also enabling us to develop the next generation of technicians and leaders.”

Alongside this new facility, Xtreme is also expanding its presence across South America. “We’ve been working quietly over the last few years to obtain an FAA Repair Station certificate for a facility in Bogota, Colombia,” Luis confirms. “We have worked diligently to capture the company’s core values, quality programs, and emphasis on customer experience to ensure a successful implementation of this second facility. As it is in Colombia, the Bogota facility will operate on a separate FAA Certificate from our OPF facility but will be able to share resources, best practices, and even offer overflow capabilities to our customers. We have now completed our initial FAA audit and are working for the final review, with expectations to obtain our official certification before the end of 2025.”

Commitment to quality

When it comes to employee engagement and company culture, Luis strives to create an empowering workplace that supports professional development. “While we understand and appreciate that Xtreme Aviation is a relatively young organization, we’ve brought in incredible talent from around the industry, bringing unique experiences, best practices, and strong business relationships,” Luis shares. “We’re proud of our leadership development programs, as they ensure our people understand the importance of consistent growth and improvements. Each member of our senior leadership team has worked through these ranks, which enables them to better understand the challenges facing the workforce.”

Although it remains a young company, Xtreme’s commitment to quality, innovation, and robust customer partnerships will inevitably secure its position as a dynamic and globally recognized MRO provider. Looking ahead to 2026 and beyond, Luis shares his reflections on this year and his plans regarding the future direction of the company.

“2025 has been a year of change, process improvements, and implementation,” he says. “Earlier this year, we declared our Safety Management System (SMS) fully operational with the FAA, which helps us to stay ahead of the industry’s requirements and ensure that we substantially reduce our risk and liability for ourselves and our customers. We also implemented a new ERP software program that is much more adaptable and will grow alongside the business. Lastly, we’re working to finalize an internally developed AI maintenance aid and working with a new AI-based business partner for pre-planning and risk management.

“Through more than a decade of dedication and hard work, Xtreme is well positioned to expand and solidify our position as an industry leader in MRO Services,” Luis concludes. “We have a talented and dedicated workforce, incredible business partners, and a strong corporate culture. With our existing growth plans for 2026 and beyond, we expect to use our energy, talents, and strengths to support each customer with the ‘boutique’ feel that any operator would be eager to receive.”
